Welcome to
char city

At Char City, we’re passionate about cooking wholesome, delicious food and creating memorable moments for you to share with your loved ones.

We take great pride in ensuring our food not only tastes amazing but is also healthy. That's why we're selective about where we source our ingredients, prioritizing organic and locally grown produce. You won’t find any seed oils in our kitchen.

Our values

Organic

Better for you, better for the environment and better for the future. Also tastier when things are taken care of.

local

Supporting our local farmers and producers from the Daylesford region, and in our opinion home to some of the best flavours in the entire region.

seed oil free

Health is important to us so we don’t use any seed oils in our cooking. Plus we found that there are far better alternatives.

grilled with love

We love what we do, you can expect the food to taste better because it’s cooked with love.

hot stuff!

We specialize in one of the oldest forms of cooking—over an open fire. Dating back to ancient times, we believe this primitive method is one of the best ways to bring out deep, rich flavors in food, while infusing it with a delicious smoky essence.

Cooking over fire also allows us to embrace the outdoors and connect with nature. We love a bit of char on our dishes, and we're sure you will too.

cooking is my love language

Meet Jason, the founder of Char City and also the man behind the Grill.

"Growing up in an Asian household, love wasn’t often spoken—it was served. My parents showed their care through food, selflessly saving me the best bites, like the tender meat from a crab claw or the prized drumstick from Hainanese chicken. Now that I’m older, I deeply appreciate that kind of love, and it’s a feeling I strive to share with others through the meals I create."
